Share Capital Requirements

The minimum share capital required for this company is AED 50,000. It must be contributed within 90 days of obtaining the license.

    • Flexi Desk (from AED 17,460/year). A workspace in a coworking area that can be accessed 4 times a month for up to 4 hours per day during business hours, subject to prior reservation. One Flexi Desk affords up to 3 visa quotas. To obtain more visa quotas, multiple Flexi Desks can be rented. A refundable deposit of AED 1,000 will be charged.
      • Special Flexi Desk (JumpStart Package only). A workspace in a coworking area that can be accessed for up to 1 hour per month, available only as part of the JumpStart registration package. The Special Flexi Desk affords 1 visa quota.
      • Standard Flexi Desk (Basic Biz Package only). A workspace in a coworking area that can be accessed up to 4 hours per week during business hours, subject to prior reservation. The Standard Flexi Desk affords 3 visa quotas.
    • Coworking Desk (from AED 20,610/year). A workspace in a coworking area with unlimited access during business hours. One Coworking Desk affords up to 3 visa quotas. To obtain more visa quotas, multiple Coworking Desks can be rented. A refundable deposit of AED 1,900 will be charged.
      • Coworking Desk at DMCC E-Gaming Centre (from AED 20,600/year). (Gaming Centre Package only). A workspace in a coworking area in the ecosystem developed specifically for gaming and e-sports activities. The E-Gaming Coworking Desk affords 3 visa quotas. A refundable deposit of AED 2,200 will be charged.
    • Serviced Desk (from AED 37,410/year). А dedicated desk in a coworking area with unlimited access during business hours. One Serviced Desk affords up to 3 visa quotas. To obtain more visa quotas, multiple Serviced Desks can be rented. A refundable deposit of AED 3,500 will be charged.
  2. Dedicated Office:
    • Serviced Office (from AED 58,410/year). A fully equipped office with unlimited access during business hours. One Serviced Office affords up to 10 visa quotas. A refundable deposit will be charged.
  3. Private Office:
    • For Rent (AED 50 – 150 sq.ft/year). An office with unlimited 24/7 access. The number of visa quotas is determined by the rented office area, calculated at 9 sq. m. per visa quota. A refundable deposit of 10% of the rent will be charged.
    • For Purchase (AED 500 – 1,500/sq.ft). An office with unlimited 24/7 access. The number of visa quotas is determined by the purchased office area, calculated at 9 sq. m. per visa quota.
  4. Business Facilities:
    • Commercial Premises (from 100/200 AED sq.ft/year). Retail spaces in business centers; commercial, warehouse and manufacturing premises; workshops and standalone buildings. The number of visa quotas is determined by the rented premises area, calculated at 9 sq. m. per visa quota.
    • Warehouses. DMCC offers the exclusive opportunity to rent warehouses outfitted with specialized equipment in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).

All DMCC premises solutions are available upon prior request and subject to availability.
In some cases, DMCC may require companies to obtain a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) or an Annual Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (AFOC) for the leased premises.

Tax Regime and Profit Management

The UAE has several taxes and fees that regulate the financial activities of both legal entities and individuals. Below are the main ones:

  1. Value Added Tax (VAT):
    • Since January 1, 2018, the UAE has implemented a 5% VAT rate. The UAE is among the top 10 countries globally with the lowest VAT rate as of 2023.
    • Foreign companies in the oil and gas sector are subject to a 55% rate, and foreign banks face a 20% rate.
    • Companies with an annual turnover exceeding AED 375,000 are required to register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) as VAT taxpayers.
    • Some goods and services may be exempt from VAT or subject to a 0% rate, such as international transportation, educational and medical services, and more.
  2. Corporate Tax:
    • It is a direct tax imposed on a company's taxable net profit.
    • Starting from June 1, 2023, a 9% corporate tax is levied on companies with profits exceeding AED 375,000.
    • A 0% rate is applied to taxable income below AED 375,000.
    • Charitable and non-profit organizations, as well as educational and medical institutions, are fully exempt from CPT.
  3. Excise Tax:
    • It is an indirect tax imposed on specific excise goods deemed harmful to human health or the environment. Examples include alcohol, tobacco products, and sugary beverages, including energy and carbonated drinks.
    • Excise tax rates vary depending on the category of goods: alcohol is taxed at 30% of the retail price, tobacco products at 100%, sugary beverages at 50%, and energy drinks at 100%.
  4. Customs Duties:
    • A list of over 700 items is exempt from customs duties. For items not on this list, the rate is 5% of their value. 
      Goods exported from the UAE or imported by charitable organizations, Arab countries, and Gulf Cooperation Council countries (with a certificate of origin) are not subject to customs duties.
    • Starting from January 1, 2023, when purchasing items worth more than AED 300 from foreign online platforms, a 5% customs duty and 5% VAT are required. Items below AED 300 are exempt from customs duties.
  5. Personal Income Tax:
    • In the UAE, personal income is not subject to taxation.
    • UAE citizens and residents are exempt from paying taxes on their personal income, including wages, interest, dividends, royalties, inheritances, gifts, capital gains, and other sources of income.

All companies registered in DMCC are required to undergo an annual audit and submit financial and tax reports.

Resident Visas

DMCC offers the following main types of UAE resident visas for foreign investors and company employees:

  • Investor Visa:
    • Provided to foreign investors and entrepreneurs who invest funds in a DMCC company through establishing or acquiring it.
    • Allows investors to manage their business in DMCC, as well as to live and work in the UAE.
    • Requires a contribution of AED 50,000 to the company's share capital.
    • Entitles the holder to sponsor his/her family.
    • Issued for two years but may be canceled if the holder is absent from the UAE for more than 6 months.
  • Employment Visa:
    • Sponsored by the company for its foreign employees.
    • Allows the holder to live and work in the UAE.
    • May require proof of education and qualifications in the applicant’s respective field.
    • Issued for two years and can be renewed along with the employment contract.
  • Dependent (Family and Maid) Visa:
    • Provided to the sponsor’s family members and accompanying domestic workers (nannies, maids, nurses, etc.).
    • Allows the holder to live in the UAE.
    • Issued for two years.
  • Student Visa:
    • Granted to foreign students of universities and colleges registered with DMCC.
    • Allows the holder to live and study in the UAE.
